PixelGenius Releases PhotoKit 2.0
The update to the award winning PhotoKit for Photoshop.

PhotoKit 2 is an Adobe Photoshop Automate Plug-in designed to bring analog photo effects to both scans and digital captures. With a retail price of $49.95, PhotoKit 2 offers a simple but effective digital image enhancement toolkit for Photoshop CS3, CS4 and CS5 for both Mac and Windows (both 32-bit and 64-bit in CS5). Note, PhotoKit 2 will run on Mac PPC in CS3 and CS4. PhotoKit 2.0 supports 8 and 16 bit RGB images.

PhotoKit 2 is a photographer's toolkit comprised of 161 effects organized in 10 sets. Some offer accurate digital replications of analog photographic effects. Others, such as the sharpening, grain, and noise reduction effects, produce results that would be difficult if not impossible to achieve in an analog darkroom. PhotoKit 2’s image enhancements and adjustments are designed to work in a way familiar to photographers. A simple dialog calls up the PhotoKit 2 tool sets, where you can easily select the desired image effect and let PhotoKit 2 do the work.

All PhotoKit 2 effects create a new layer labeled with the name of the effect, leaving the original image untouched, so it’s always safe to experiment. PhotoKit 2 never, ever, changes the underlying image data. By far the easiest way to learn what PhotoKit 2’s effects do is to try them—they can’t do any harm.

A second benefit of PhotoKit 2’s layer-based approach is flexibility. A PhotoKit 2 effect is just a starting point. You can vary the strength of the effect globally by adjusting the layer’s opacity, or locally by painting on the layer’s mask. If you want a particular effect to be stronger, you can simply run it again—PhotoKit 2 uses all visible layers as the basis for its effect.

PhotoKit 2 offers the ability to create layer masks on demand.

PkotoKit 2's Show Effect (above left) and Hide Effect (above right) allow you to paint the effects in or out with a brush.

In addition to improving the effect routines, PhotoKit 2 adds all new functionality and new effects. The PixelGenius Toolbox dialog simplifies the processing, provides a thumbnail and 1:1 previews and offers integrated batching capability, not only for PhotoKit 2.0 but also PhotoKit Sharpener 2 and PhotoKit Color 2.

PhotoKit 2 has the ability to combine multiple batched effects into a single final layer to help reduce file sizes. Note, you will lose the ability to directly edit the individual effects with this option selected. See the example below.

System Requirements: PhotoKit 2 is compatible with Photoshop CS3, CS4 and CS5 (works in 64-bit with CS5 on Mac and 64-bit in CS4 & CS5 on Windows). NOTE: PhotoKit 2 is compatible with Mac PPC with Photoshop CS3 & CS4.

Upgrade pricing for current PhotoKit 1.x users provides a 70% discount for an upgrade price of $14.98. Users who purchased PhotoKit 1.x on or after January 1st, 2011 are eligible to receive a free upgrade to PhotoKit 2.0–new users will get a coupon in an email.
